A Brief History…

Ownit Homes is a unique home building company dedicated to constructing outstanding architectural style homes with an affordable price tag.

Established by brothers, Peter and Paul Ganim in 1972, Ownit Homes’ primary objective remains clear to this day, “Our intention is to give clients a home building experience that will exceed their expectations.”

The first home Peter and Paul Ganim built more than 38 years ago (the Concord design at Janet Street, Booval for the Robertson family) stands today as a testimony to their commitment to excellence and innovation, with many customers today coming back for their third and fourth Ownit Home.

Ownit Homes has since grown into one of South East Queensland’s largest and most diversified builders of quality homes. Over the years, we’ve built more than 3,500 homes and our experience and size benefits you at every stage of the building process.

Our Expertise…

Many of our clients have exhausted themselves looking at other company’s display homes. When they finally discover a company with a proven track record in quality workmanship, design, service and communication, they recognise the security and comfort of building with such a company, that is Ownit Homes.

Always at the forefront of innovation, Ownit Homes built a reputation for being the first to include a rumpus room in their home designs, and another standout feature was their pioneering glass staircase design.

You’ll find passageways are almost non-existent in an Ownit Home, as our designers have come up with more creative use of space so that your home’s internal areas are maximised.

Most councils in South-East Queensland are embracing smaller block sizes in order to prevent urban sprawl. Ownit Homes has also built a solid reputation as the small-lot specialist, again, able to maximise internal space for any sized block.

In addition, we enjoy being up front with our clients. You’ll never be confronted with any hidden or unexpected costs when you build an Ownit Home. That’s one of the reasons why we have such a high level of repeat business. Also, after comparing our square meterage rate plus standard inclusions to other builders, our customers can clearly see that they’ll be in front with Ownit Homes.

Meet the Team

At Ownit Homes we don’t just develop houses, we develop people too. Many of our team have been with us for 10 years or more and we are privileged to be working alongside such passionate, dedicated professionals. We appreciate their loyalty in helping create this company.

Peter and Paul Ganim’s purposeful and passionate approach has now led to the next generation – Scott and Brad Ganim taking over the helm and taking the Ownit Homes name to new heights.

Brad Ganim, started with the company during his high school holidays, he then went on to complete a Business Marketing degree at University. His first role at Ownit Homes was to join the builders onsite for hands on experience. He loved it so much he then went on to complete his four year carpentry apprenticeship. After that came building supervisor, then construction manager. Now Brad is a director of the company, and manages the building side of the business.

Scott Ganim is Brad’s elder brother and another director of the company. From studying law at UQ his role at Ownit Homes incorporates the contractual side and sees him overseeing the entire business. Sister, Leisa Kratzmann is also involved in the business handling the colour consultancy area.

Our strong in-house team comprises of great people like Ian Dennis our constructions manager who has been with us since 2002. Ian loves the relaxed atmosphere that is created by all the staff and enjoys a professionally run organisation that he can call his own.

Our general manager, Fred Achille, who has 40 years experience in the building industry has enjoyed over 26 years with the organisation.

Ken and Donna Wilcox are our husband and wife Sales and Design Team. Their depth of experience in the trades and building certification means that you’ll be dealing with people who know what they’re talking about. They “couldn’t imagine working for a better bunch of people than the Ganims”.

John Ross is our in-house accountant and has been with us for 17 years. John says, “Being debt free is a tremendous benefit in any organisation and in my 17 years Ownit Homes has never failed to meet any financial obligation on time.”

Other key members of our in house team are Estimator Ian Yardley, Our Colour Coordinator Lee Polley, Office Manager Jenna Hausfeld, Financial Assistant Denise Seupule, Construction Secretary Sarah Quick, Supervisors Danny Bax, Bob Scott, Maintenance Manager Ron Smith, Estimating Rick Smith, CAD Drafting Department headed by Brock Sellars with Alicia Wood, Sales Staff of John Simpson, Michael Ripper, Greg Davies, Sue Davies and Rick Almeroth. Overall their drive and faithfulness have all contributed to the success of Ownit Homes today.

Our family of sub-contractors

We’d also like to pay tribute to our dedicated team of sub-contractors, many of whom have worked alongside us since the early days. Our excavator, Barry has only just retired after 38 years with our company.

We employ excavators, drainers, concreters, carpenters, bricklayers, external plasterers, tilers, painters, electricians, and plumbers to make your home a reality.

Most of our sub-contractors have been with us on average for 10-20 years. We asked Kev (a key member of one of our carpentry teams), why he’s stayed with us so long. He replied, “In the 20 odd years that I’ve worked for Ownit Homes, not once have I ever not been paid in the prescribed time”.

There’s family history with our tradies as well. Many are now in the second generation with sons following in the footsteps of their fathers, and our tiler’s are all brothers working alongside each other, covering most of Brisbane.
