SUPPORTING THE COMMUNITY

At Ownit Homes, we are committed to creating meaningful change in the communities we serve. Our charities focus on helping children in need, and in particular we’ve chosen smaller organisations that are less reliant on heavy administrative costs.

We recognise that home buyers are looking for a company that takes social responsibility seriously, and our aim is to make a difference to the lives of children in south-east Queensland, and to be leaders in community awareness.

As a family company we appreciate the good health and opportunities we’ve been given and are proud to contribute towards these extremely deserving charity groups. We’re happy to be in a position where we can pass on some of our good fortune and success. One way we can do that is to help build a thriving community.

MONTROSE ACCESS

We are a major sponsor of Montrose Access, an organisation that treats young Queenslanders with physically disabling conditions such as muscular dystrophy. One Mum says of the help she has received from Montrose for her child, “The therapists are more like a family structure and they’ve helped us immeasurably through the hard times.” Montrose Access has been helping Queensland children since 1933, and relies on sponsorship for 48% of its operating capital. Ownit Homes is a Silver Corporate supporter along with Westfield and FKP.

TAMIL VAZHAI

Tamil Vazhai is a forum for the development of Tamil language, art, literature and culture. The aims of the group are to foster the cultural legacy of India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia and Singapore and to establish ties to the cultural root for the future generations. Activities include classical and folk music, literary and art.

BEAT THE BLUES

Beat the Blues is a non profit organisation that arranges events to raise money for children’s charities such as Pathways Heath and Research Centre and Redkite.

Pathways Health and Research Centre is an organisation with a goal to promote resilience and life skills in families and school communities focusing on coping with anxiety, depression and therefore reducing youth suicide. Pathways to Resilience Trust works to implement programs in Australian schools concentrating in areas of low socioeconomic status, culturally and linguistically diverse and indigenous backgrounds, as well as regional and remote areas, particularly those affected by drought. By implementing these programs in underprivileged Australian schools the Trust is working to prevent anxiety, depression and youth suicide, and to promote resilience in families and communities in areas of need. To date the Trust has provided up to 25,000 children with the possibility of receiving these programs.

Redkite aims to ensure that every child and young person diagnosed with cancer in Australia is empowered to cope with the emotional, social and practical consequences.  Redkite concentrates on the whole family and each individual needs to be supported to manage their unique cancer experience by alleviating the financial and emotional stresses. Whether you’re a young person who has been recently diagnosed, undergoing treatment, returning home or a family member, Redkite’s range of specialist and unique services are available for you. Redkite also supports the special needs of bereaved families. By delivering specialised cancer counselling and support, Redkite aims to minimise the challenges young people and their families experience throughout the diagnosis and treatment of cancer and helps prepare them for the journey ahead.
